Connecting a New Store (Unmanaged Hardware)

Please note that unmanaged hardware must be provisioned prior to the store's port date. Hardware cannot be provisioned the day of the port.

Please keep the following in mind when setting up hardware at a new location.

Things to Keep in Mind
=====================

Timing
  • Ports will be scheduled for Monday or Tuesday mornings at 10:00am local time for the store, unless otherwise requested
  • Hardware should be installed no later than 9:00am local time for the store

Networking Requirements
  • Standard phones (Yealink T54W) support both wired and wireless connectivity; if opting for wireless, a managed wifi base station is required. There is no unmanaged option for the wifi base station.
  • If you have existing ethernet wiring you would like to use, the EdgeRouter 5 device has ports to allow up to 4 phones to connect. The store will be responsible for connecting the ethernet cables/moving the cables from your old network switch. Please note that sharing cabling with Pulse terminals is not supported.
  • Connectivity problems are out of scope for unmanaged hardware

Instructions for Connecting Equipment
===================================
When ready to connect new equipment, please follow these steps. It is not recommended to plug any devices into power until the final step:
  1. Connect port 2 on the CRC-managed Cisco Meraki router to port eth0 on the EdgeRouter VPN router.
  2. For wired connections using just the EdgeRouter: Connect ports eth1 through eth4 on the EdgeRouter VPN router directly to your phones.
    OR
    For wired connections using a switch: Connect port eth4 on the EdgeRouter VPN router to your switch. Connect your phones to that same switch.
    OR
    For wireless connections: Connect port eth4 on the EdgeRouter VPN router to port "Network" on the white Unifi power supply. Connect port "PoE" on the white Unifi power supply to the Unifi wifi base station. Your phones will only need to be plugged into power.
  3. Plug the EdgeRouter into power. If you are using a switch or wifi base station,  please connect those to power now as well.
  4. Wait 2 minutes.
  5. Plug your phones into power, and allow them 2 minutes to boot up.

Your phones will be able to make outbound calls immediately upon connection.

Inbound calls will not route through to the store until the port has completed. An OnSwitch technician will reply to the porting ticket to confirm that the port has completed. Please test inbound calling to your store, and ensure that all phones ring correctly once porting has completed.
